Lost in the Monday Musings
I'm lost.
Unable to focus on the beginning of yet another work week.
Trying to get my brain to scramble around to thinking about the next step in my quest to move to the next step in my career mix.
This weekend was spent at home. Alison and I had planned on going to St. Augustine, but that got cancelled and we instead spent the time here in Blackshear and Waycross.
There were other activities we could have spent out time on, but we chose instead to just emphasize family time. Saturday was particularly nice, in that we just stayed at home form dawn until dusk. We did a lot of cleaning, but we also binge watched the first three episodes of The Handmaid's Tale, a brilliant adaption of Margaret Atwood's seminal dystopian novel.
One of the best lines in the movie was the lead character reflecting on how the fundamentalist dictatorship kind of snuck up on them. That is was like taking a bath in increasingly hotter water. That the slow rise in temperature is not even noticeable, as your body adjusts, and you don't really know what's wrong until the water is boiling and it is too late.
Sunday was church, grocery shopping, and a funeral in the afternoon (Alison's Uncle Dud).
At the grocery store, I discovered what I would hope would be a boiling point - a cover of the National Enquirer (the owners are huge friends and supporters of Trump) that seemed to indicate that we were on the verge of World War 3, and that it was a GOOD THING, and that it would lead to Trump crushing our 8 enemies. Really? Is this what it has come down to? That Trumpeteers actually believe that World War 3 is something to look forward to?
Suddenly, my being lost in facing a fresh work week seems pretty small potatoes.
Sleeping has become very difficult for me.
