Holding Tight Through the Storm

The wind tried to blow it all away
But I held on to you
The gales de-ozzed our roof
We could see the stars

The rains tried to drive it all away
But I covered you up
And  kept you dry
Except for the tears in your eyes

A lifetime of things were being swooped
Up into a funnel caked up high
Say goodnight Gracie
Who needs a Wii fit?

Books gone or soaked
Art plastered almost to Paris
Clothing now two blocks down
Nothing left but my cherry oak dresser

Nothing left but the only thing that matters
Nothing left of the possessionary march
Everything else can be in tatters
As long as I have you

Skies clear
So much is gone or damaged
But not you
Your smile for me endures
