Surviving the Expectorant Tide

Burgeoning expectorant
Splashes across a plastic face mask
Supomious secretions
Streak a blue shining latex glove

There's no fear
It can't get in
We know what we're doing
Everything will be fine

Unless

It changes
Mutates ever so slightly
Finds it can leap the blockades
Dances on the shade of contagion

There's no need to fear
The air is not conducive
To its pride and joy
Of attachment

Still

Now we watch the skies
Now we scart to flies
A sniffle sends an alarm
Physicians strive to do no harm

Circle the wagons, mongers of fear!
Even if its not Captain Trips that's near
We could reach out a helping hand
Instead we join the paranoid band

Therefore

The night is young
The risk is high
But we all should take a chance
That love will prevail

That those in foreign lands will prevail
Against the onslaught of the unnamed plague
And that we have the bravery to help
For in isolation, we are doomed
